Relegation-threatened side Toulouse will welcome the French giants PSG in their next league fixture at Stadium Municipal on Saturday. Toulouse have succeeded to move above the drop zone after back to back wins against Troyes and Nice in the league.
League leaders PSG have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the French Cup after beating Sochaux by 4-1 in the round of 16. Angel Di Maria registered his first hat-trick for the club since he joined the French giants in 2015. The Argentine winger scored an opener inside one minute for the visitors.
Florian Martin scored an equalizer in the first half, but Edinson Cavani scored in the 27th minute to restore the lead for PSG. Two more goals from Di Maria in the second half sealed the victory for the league leaders. German shot-stopper Kevin Trapp was sent off for his foul on Sochaux forward Thomas Robinet in the last minute of the normal time.
PSG have collected 62 points from 24 matches in the Ligue 1. Brazilian forward Neymar, who was rested in midweek has directly contributed to 29 goals (18 goals, 11 assists) in the league this season. He is expected to start for PSG on Saturday.
On the other side, Toulouse won their last league game against Nice by 1-0 away from home. Max-Alain Gradel scored the only goal of the game at the 67th minute for Michael Debeve’s side. After winning two consecutive league matches, Toulouse are currently 15th in the league with 26 points which is just one point above the relegation zone.
PSG have dominated this fixture in recent years. The Paris side have won 16 of the last 19 meetings against Toulouse since 2010 in all competitions. The hosts on Saturday have won only once against the current league leaders during that period. However, the latest victory for Toulouse came last season when they defeated PSG by 2-0 at home.
Unai Emery’s team have already won against their counterparts this season by 6-2 at Parc des Princes. Neymar scored a brace in that match as Adrien Rabiot, Edinson Cavani, Javier Pastore, and Layvin Kurzawa scored one goal each for the home side.
Winger Max-Alain Gradel scored one for Michael Debeve’s side whereas Thiago Silva scored an own goal in the second half of the match. Midfielder Marco Verratti was sent off in the 69th minute for the second bookable challenge on Christopher Jullien.
Midfielder Wergiton Somalia is out injured for Toulouse and will miss Saturday match due to the leg injury.
No other significant injury issues for Michael Debeve when they face the league leaders. Striker Yaya Sanogo is expected to lead the line for the home side.
Adrien Rabiot is out for a while due to the injury. German attacking midfielder Julian Draxler will also miss the trip due to the back injuries. Hatem Ben Arfa is still out injured for PSG.
Thiago Motta is back into the squad and played nearly 15 minutes against Sochaux in the last round of the French Cup. However, Unai Emery might rest few key players for their Champions League clash against the European champions Real Madrid on Wednesday.
