Manchester United vs Sevilla Preview: Premier League heavyweights Manchester United host Spanish side Sevilla this Tuesday night, in the second leg of the Round of 16 tie in the UEFA Champions League  2017/18. The tie is firmly in balance with the first leg in Spain ending in a goalless draw.

Jose Mourinho’s men have only lost one of their last nine home Champions League games against Spanish sides, winning five and drawing three games. The only loss in the run was against Real Madrid at this stage in 2012-13 season.

Only Barcelona (two goals) have conceded fewer goals in the Champions League this season than Manchester United who have conceded just three goals. On the other hand, only FC Porto (15) have conceded more goals of any side remaining in the competition than Sevilla (12).

Manchester United vs Sevilla Prediction

In 11 of his full seasons as a manager in the Champions League, Jose Mourinho has reached the quarter-finals eight times, failing at this stage only three times; in 2005-06, 2008-09 and 2014-15.

70% of away sides who draw the first leg of a Champions League knockout tie 0-0 end up progressing to the next round. Therefore, Mourinho’s record and previous statistics hint towards United advancing through this tie.

However, Man United have not managed to score more than one goal in any of their last 15 Champions League encounter with Spanish opposition. Nevertheless, the Red Devils are coming into this game in good form as they have won four of their last five games in all competitions and are expected to win this game.

Our prediction for this game is a 2-0 win for Manchester United.
