The Nerazzurri visit Genoa on Saturday at Stadio Luigi Ferraris for Round 25 of Serie A. The match from for 07:45 pm GMT on 17 February.
Inter Milan found a victory in previous last league game after a series of five consecutive draws. Spaletti’s men made a disappointing start to the year, drawing four straight matches in January.
Only a couple months ago, Inter were the league leaders of Serie A. Now they are third in the league standings, fifteen points behind league leaders Napoli.
Given the fierce competition in Serie A this campaign, the Nerazzurri are at risk of losing their Champions League spot to the likes of Lazio, Sampdoria or even their derby rivals, AC Milan.
The hosts are twelfth in the league position and look like they are satisfied with it. They are well clear off the drop zone with 27 points from 24 league matches.
Despite their satisfactory performance in the league, Genoa have massively struggled in home matches this season. At home, they have managed to pick up just eight points; only more than Verona and Benevento (seven apiece). Six of which have come from two wins in their last three games played at Ferraris.
Genoa defeated Chievo in their last league match with a tight 1-0 victory as they grabbed a late winner to collect all three points. The Grifone have improved their form under new manager Davide Ballardini. With the Italian, they have managed to get 21 points. Only Juventus and Napoli have been able to gain more in that period.
Inter Milan will arrive at this match somewhat confused. Despite the 2-1 win over Bologna in their last league game, they are yet to gain full momentum. A win over the recovering Rossoblu might just be helpful for Inter to rejuvenate their momentum.
Inter Milan won the reverse fixture of this league tie with a close 1-0 win at home. Genoa were solid at the back and defended well for most of the game, but Danilo D’Ambrosio found a winner in the 87th minute, as the traveling fans were left in dismay.
Inter have lost all of their last four games against Genoa played at Ferraris. In their previous eight meetings, these teams have won the equal number of games (four each).
Key Players To Watch
Diego Laxalt scored a late winner in both of his last two Serie A games (both at 90th minute). Back against his former team, the Uruguayan has rediscovered his form and looks to deliver yet another winning performance when these sides meet on Saturday.
Italian striker Eder is the player to watch from the Milanese side. The 31-year-old has netted in both of his last league fixtures. Mauro Icardi is struggling for fitness lately, and with the Argentine sidelined, Spaletti will most likely give a chance to show his class.
Ballardini will be without some key players heading into this match. All of Aleandro Rosi, Galabinov, Armando Izzo, Giuseppe Rossi and Miguel Veloso are unavailable due to injuries.
Mauro Icardi is a major doubt for Spalletti’s men. Ivan Perisic and Miranda are also set to miss this match through injuries along with the Argentine.

Genoa vs Inter Milan Prediction
The Nerazzurri will be well aware of the importance of these matches. If they are to play Champions League next year, games like these should be no more than a routine task for them heading for a victory.
Genoa, on the other hand, should try to take advantage of Inter’s vulnerability at the back. Under the new manager, they have lost only three times, to Juventus, Atalanta, and Udinese, and they will surely give Inter a run for their money.
Inter are the clear favorites and no less than a win can provide them with the much-needed confidence, especially now as the Milan derby is just a fortnight away.
Our Prediction: 3-1 win to Inter Milan
