Bayern Munich vs PSG: Preview, Team News, Lineup and Prediction
German champions Bayern Munich will host the French side Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League this Tuesday night. This fixture is labeled as a group decider whilst Bayern Munich must win by more than three-goal margin in order to top the group. PSG past three goals without any reply against the German side when they meet in second group game back in September.
However, the French giants faced the shocking defeat last night in the Ligue 1 against Strasbourg by 2-1 away from home. Unai Emery’s side couldn’t prevent the first defeat of the season even after dominating the most part of the game.
Forward Kylian Mbappe leveled the scoreline in the late first half after Strasbourg took the lead in the 13th minute. But the home side managed to score a winner in the second half against the league leaders. Still, PSG top the Ligue 1 by the eight-point margin to the second-placed side Monaco.
Whereas, the Bundesliga leaders Bayern won their recent league match against Hannover 96 by 3-1 and are now six points above title rivals RB Leipzig. Bayern are currently second in the Champions League group with 12 points while the visitors on Tuesday have 15 points winning all group games.
The last meeting between these two big guns finished 3-0 to the Paris side. Dani Alves, Edinson Cavani, and Neymar were on the score-sheet against the team in the poor form then. But Bayern Munich have improved significantly since the departure of the Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Jupp Heynckes was appointed as an interim manager for the Bavarian side following the sacking of the Italian manager. He probably could go all out attack against another side having the set of world-class players.
Bayern Munich and Germany number one, Manuel Neuer is out with Metatarsal fracture since September. Another German keeper Sven Ulreich will be between the sticks against PSG.
Spanish duo, Thiago Alcantara and Juan Bernat are set to miss the Champions League clash on Tuesday. Alcantara is out due to muscle injury and Bernat had a small wound.
Whereas winger Arjen Robben also had a muscle injury which means the Dutchman will be out of action on Tuesday. Bayern top scorer this season, Robert Lewandoski will lead the Bavarian giants alongside James Rodriguez. Thomas Mueller and Franck Ribery are also back from the injury and played their part in last night’s win against Hannover.
Striker Edinson Cavani and midfielder Marco Verratti were on the bench against Strasbourg last night. Unai Emery brought them on the field for the few minutes towards the end but still couldn’t prevent the defeat. Both of them will start against Bayern Munich.
PSG rested Brazilian defender Thiago Silva yesterday and he will be back into the starting eleven against the German side on Tuesday. Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will start the game while Di Maria might be on the bench.

Bayern Munich needs to win by more than three goals margin in order to top the group. While anything besides a defeat will do for Unai Emery. It is highly unlikely that Heynckes’s side will past more than three goals without conceding. PSG star Cavani has scored 23 goals already this season including six in the Champions League.
PSG’s world record signing Neymar also scored six goals in the competition. Whereas Bayern number nine Lewandowski has scored 19 goals in all competition. We can expect few goals on Tuesday between two star-studded sides.
Our Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-2 PSG
