Defending champions AS Monaco will travel to Angers in their next Ligue 1 fixture on Saturday night.
Currently 16th in the Ligue 1, Angers SCO have collected 25 points so far this season. The relegation-threatened side are on the same level of points as the drop zone side Lille. Angers were defeated against Montpellier by 2-1 last Sunday at Stade de la Mosson.
Stephane Moulin’s side took the lead as Karl Toko Ekambi scored from the penalty spot in the 20th minute. Midfielder Paul Bastien Lasne scored an equalizer before halftime, and Isaac Mbenza scored the winning goal for Montpellier in the 71st minute of the match.
On the same day, AS Monaco came back from 2-0 down to win the match against Lyon by 3-2 at home. Visitors Lyon took the 2-0 lead inside 27 minutes with the goals from Mariano Diaz and Bertrand Traore. But the lead lasted for less than 10 minutes as Monaco leveled the scoreline with the goals from Balde Keita and Radamel Falcao.
Falcao’s penalty was stopped by Lyon shot-stopper Anthony Lopes, but the Colombian hit the net from the rebound.
Monaco were down to ten men just before the halftime after forward Balde Keita was sent off for the second bookable challenge on Ferland Mendy. The ten men AS Monaco fought well in the second half, and as a result, winger Rony Lopes scored the winner for the home side.
The defending champions are currently third in the league with 50 points and are 12 points behind the league leaders PSG.
