Maribor vs Sevilla: Preview, Team News, Lineup, and Prediction
The final group stage round in the Champions League will be finished in next two days all around Europe. Sevilla will travel to Slovenia In order to play their final group game against NK Maribor on Wednesday. Whereas the group leaders, Liverpool will host Spartak Moscow at Anfield on the same night.
A win away from home against the comparatively weaker side will see Eduardo Berizzo’s side heading towards the round of 16. Any result besides a win for Sevilla will have to wait for the outcome of Liverpool vs Spartak Moscow. If Jurgen Klopp’s side wins against Spartak then any result at Maribor will do for Sevilla.
On the other hand, Maribor are already out from the competition. The Slovenian champions and current league leaders have only two points in the Champions League group E. Both games against Spartak Moscow finished draw for the Slovenian side.
Currently fifth in the league with 28 points, Sevilla have won their last encounter with Maribor by 3-0. Wissam Ben Yedder scored a hattrick against Darko Milanič’s side. Eduardo Berizzo’s side made the heroic comeback against Liverpool in the last Champions League match.
The hosts were three goals down against the Anfield side in the first half but Sevilla leveled the scoreline in the second half with a brace from Wissam Ben Yedder and last minute goal from Guido Pizarro. But they have to get the result on their side on Wednesday in order to confirm their qualification to the next round.
The scorer of the last minute equalizer against Spartak Moscow, Jasmin Mesanovic is out for the last group match with an eye injury. Centre-back Aleksander Rajcevic is also out due to the knee inflammation.
Forward Luka Zahovic will also miss the game with the foot injury. Whereas, the Slovenian defender Denis Sme has yet to make come back into the side since September. Brazilian striker Marcos Tavares will lead the line for the Slovenian champions.

The outcome of the match might not be much significant for Maribor as much as for the visitors. Eduardo Berizzo’s side will try to finish the tie on their side. Sevilla should not take any chances to give the result away.
Wissam Ben Yedder is Sevilla’s top scorer in the Champions League this season with six goals in the group matches already. But besides him, no any forward player has scored one for Sevilla. So Maribor might target Yedder and not give him much space for shooting and creating chances in the game. We can expect high tempo game from the start from the Spanish side.
Our Prediction: Maribor 0-2 Sevilla
